 Creation Africa - Kenya

The Creation Africa – Kenya project is being supported by the French Embassy in Kenya and the Alliance Française Nairobi to provide professional development and technical support to creatives working in the digital eco-system.  It is aligned to the Kenya Government’s Talanta Hela initiative that seeks to boost the cultural and creative industries as drivers of economic growth and job creation.

This mLearning programme has been designed to give Kenyan creatives in the music and animation industries the skills and knowledge to achieve success as entrepreneurs.

The “Entrepreneurship in the music industry” and “Entrepreneurship in the animation industry” courses have been developed in partnership with LAFAAAC and in collaboration with specialist institutions and recognized professionals.

Access two mLearning courses in :

Entrepreneurship in the Music industry

Understand the workings of the music industry

Produce a musical project

Commercial exploitation

The fundamentals of music marketing

Digital promotion

Entrepreneurship in the Animation industry

Discovering and accessing the animation market

Funding animation

Contracting in animation

Developing digital marketing and promotion in animation

Each training course will give you the key skills you need to launch your project in the music or animation sectors. Thanks to the expertise of a number of experts, you'll learn about best practice in each sector, the key players and how to get started yourself. 

Each mLearning course lasts between 8 to 10 hours, which you are free to complete at your own pace, from your mobile!
The content of your training courses include written content, audio, video, expert interviews, case studies, as well as fun and engagement activities. It can be downloaded and accessible without an internet connection.

Eligibility requirements

Be over 18 years old 

Be resident in Kenya 

Be assiduous and motivated to complete the courses 

Have a career plan (project, company, career aspirations, etc.) in the music or animation sectors 

Be willing to give feedback on your experience during and after the mLearning courses

How to apply? 

To apply, complete the application form for one of courses on offer: Entrepreneurship in the music industry OR entrepreneurship in the animation industry by or before 18 December 2023 at 00:00 GMT.

 Any incomplete application will be automatically disqualified.

The French Embassy in Kenya
 
Under the authority of the Ambassador, the Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Department of the Embassy implements and monitors cooperation actions in a variety of sectors including education, health, civil society, cultural and creative industries and sports, in addition to overseeing projects financed directly by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE).

The Alliance Française de Nairobi is a language and cultural relations organization promoting the French language, cultural and linguistic diversity. It is one of the largest in Africa offering French language courses, translation services and the only accredited institution in Kenya for international and professional French language certification.  The Alliance Française de Nairobi is one of the main cultural centres in Kenya supporting the production and presentation of artistic works across all disciplines that reflect the diversity, aspirations and contradictions of our contemporary society and a space for dialogue across cultures.  It supports the French Embassy in the implementation of French-Kenyan cultural and linguistic cooperation projects.

LAFAAAC is an impact company which aims to make training 
more accessible to hundreds of thousands of professionals and creatives in Africa, and to contribute to the structuring of markets and sectors of the cultural industries – and more broadly of cultural entrepreneurship – on the continent.
The company trains in cultural and creative professions (audiovisual, cinema, music, animation, fashion…) as well as cultural entrepreneurship, relying on digital tools and innovative educational approaches (digital learning, virtual classes, distance coaching, face-to-face training).
